Ever wondered who is behind the scenes on a guided walking tour? Our guides have diverse backgrounds but share a love of the Margaret River region and a passion for the Cape to Cape Track. Meet the team.
Janita is a WA local, having been born in Perth and travelled frequently to the south west with her family since the 1960s. The Margaret River coast is in Janita’s blood – her father, Lockie, was one of the first to surf Yallingup! (Body surfing back then!) He was a National Surf Belt Champion and a founding member of Trigg Island Surf Club.
Janita used to work for Qantas where she loved being able to help people create amazing memories, and it is here she cultivated her love of travel. She returned to Margaret River in the late 80s when she bought one of the first cafes in town.
Janita says she loves the Cape to Cape track because of the diversity and the magnificent colours reflected in the landscape. The Indian Ocean is like no other in its turquoise colour. She loves showing guests the delicate orchids and wildflowers that appear in the most obscure spots along the Cape to Cape track.
Anne is a Margaret River stalwart who grew up in Wilyabrup and went to school in the Margaret River region. She went away for 12 years to work in tourism in Kalbarri, but she felt the call of home strongly and recently returned!
Anne says she loves being a walking tour guide for Walk Into Luxury because she loves the outdoors and the Cape to Cape track has long been her playground! She says she loves meeting new people and seeing their enthusiasm in the region. Her top tips for people walking with Walk into Luxury are to invest in some comfortable shoes; and she promises if she’s your guide she’ll show you some secret spots!
Tracey is originally from Perth but after living in Margaret River for 20 years, she thinks she can almost say she’s a local! Tracey has worked in many tourism businesses in the south west, including the original Three Bears Bar, Rivendell Winery and as a masseuse at Injidup Spa Retreat. In regards the Cape to Cape Track, she says “to be able to walk so close to the ocean and jump in the water whenever you feel the urge, is absolute heaven! The incredible wildlife and flowers, amazing surf and contrasting terrain just make the track one of the best walks anywhere.” Tracey says she loves being a tour guide as she’s able to share her love of the region with other people and hear the many amazing travel stories of our guests. The thing Tracey enjoys surprising guests with the most are the native cherries when they are in season!
Dean was born in Victoria and has travelled extensively across the world. Dean really is an interesting bloke! He has had many careers and is a qualified naturopath and kinesiologist. He’s passionately involved with surfing and mountain bike training for high performing individuals, and is a champion mountain biker.
He relocated to Margaret River in 2015 and says he fell in love with the Cape to Cape Track because of the changing colours throughout the day and varied terrain. He loves being a tour guide because he gets to meet so many people and hear their stories and he’s always learning something new. We asked Dean his best insiders tip for our region…. come and find out for yourself he said! Cheeky, but he has a point!
Dianna has been in Margaret River for 12 years. Not only is she a tour guide for Walk into Luxury, she also takes tours underground at some of Margaret River’s majestic limestone caves. Dianna loves the Cape to Cape Walk because it showcases the region in all its glory. She loves telling stories about local Margaret Rivers’s people and places. A huge fan of the ocean views from the track, her favourite spot is the delightful Injidup Spa.
